So we’re going back on the road again!
We’ve got some tour dates announced for a short US run in July… these are special gigs for us. We decided to do a run of really small venues first rather than blast out the biggest possible places we could because we wanted another chance to remember what it’s like to be right there in the heat of it. We’re gonna be setting up for the record to come out and we’ll play some new songs, but really what you’re gonna get is LOTS of old favorites. It’s kind of our “Thanks to Everybody Who Got Us to the Big Places Tour”… so to say thanks we’re gonna dig up the old jams we might not’ve played in a while, in the venues we used to play them. It’s gonna be super rad.
We’re kind of doing the same thing in Europe with shows like the KOKO show in London, we wanted to say thanks and play right up close to you again.
So here’s to punk rock shows and hanging out! Let’s get it on!

War on Sex and Love
In regards to the war on sexuality and love, the past few days have produced triumphs but also defeats, displayed ignorance but also courage.
Firstly, North Carolina approved (by a 20-point margin) a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage. The head of Vote for Marriage North Carolina stated: “We are not anti-gay, we are pro-marriage. And the point—the whole point—is simply that you don’t rewrite the nature of God’s design for marriage based on the demands of a group of adults”.
No official religion exists in the United States, and for great reason. A wall of separation between church and state serves as a necessary device to ensure citizens can exist freely and equally, regardless of their faith. Whether one associates with or dissociates with religion is a personal choice, one that shall not seek criticism nor force, especially from government. The immeasurable ignorance surrounding both the government and society’s decision to invalidate same-sex marriage, deeming it beyond “the nature of God’s design”, is entirely abhorrent.
Despite the ignorance of many, Vice President, Joe Biden, stated in an interview on Meet the Press: “I am absolutely comfortable with the fact that men marrying men, women marrying women, and heterosexual men and women marrying another, are entitled the same exact rights, all the civil rights, and all the civil liberties”. Biden also stated: “I just think that the good news is that as more and more Americans come to understand what this is all about, it is a simple proposition: Who do you love? Who do you love? And will you be loyal to the person who love”. The governments and people who oppose same-sex marriage proclaim this falsified sense of supremacy in heterosexual marriage. The sex of the person one loves should hold no weight in determining a relationship. In response to Biden’s statement, President Obama hastened his decision and endorsed same-sex marriage. Yet, despite the President’s views on same-sex marriage, no further action will ensure equality for all; the decision remains in the hands of the states.
In other news, Against Me! lead singer Tom Gabel announced his decision to transition into a woman. In a society where transgender people experience discrimination on the daily, Gabel’s commitment to publicly declare this decision is inspirational, to say the least. Despite massive support, others have reacted ignorantly to the circumstances. The ignorant need to realize “that the disorder [gender dysphoria] is not just that a person simply wants to change gender, but includes depression and feelings that come with the helplessness that you were born into sex you weren’t supposed to be”.
Fuck the people who believe they can impose injustice on fellow citizens. Fuck the people who remain silent in the presence of flagrant cruelty.
